NaNoWriMo Day 9: Let's Start Over Again

Wordcount: 5,556
Sanity: 3%
Mood: bemused

So this morning I was all set to buckle down, write 11k, and pass that glorious 50k mark a good twenty-one days early.

Instead, I wrote 2,000 words, and realized how much I loathed my novel. We're talking extreme hatred, here.

And so I started over on a completely new novel.

I know, I know. Shocking turn of events, right? I feel like The Last Garden could, possibly, maybe, one day in the distant future be wrangled into something resembling a book. But this is not that time.

omg I totally thougth I was the only one going through what you went through. You basically summed up what I've been feeling fo the last few days. I recently wrote the whole begining to my novel over again because I was frustrated with the lack of personality my characters had. I hope your next doesn't give you a much trouble as the frist one did. good luck!

I think that one of the most reassuring comments I read once on Verla's is that no words written are ever wasted. You might find that later you will find a use for this 'almost' novel that you wrote for the first week of NaNo. And if you don't actually use any of the words, I'm sure you learned things during the process--about you, about your characters, about your writing... Don't lose heart. It's courageous to start over. Good luck!
